I purchased my battery the end of May 2009. By Dec. 2009 the battery did not work properly so I returned it for a replacement. The replacement was completely useless (computer turned off immediately when unplugged). Now they want me to pay to return this replacement in order to get another battery. Unfortunately Amazon will do nothing because their money-back guarantee only lasts 90 days even though this battery came with a 1-year warranty. How many will I have to return before I get a working battery? Trying to decide if it's worth another try after reading these other reviews.

Do not trust you will receive a non-defective battery. Search their ratings and you will see they have an abnormally high defective battery percentage and poor customer service to back them up. They do NOTHING to resolve issue other then want YOU to pay MORE money. Do not rely on just my comment, search! You will see!

BTW, I already commented & rated (poorly) about the item I ordered and they removed the comment. They only left my one star company rating because they CAN NOT change that.

Amazon's A to Z guarantee was the only way I received my money back.

I purchased this charger for my HP Pavilion DV6500 laptop. I had it for about 2 weeks when it would start intermittantly stop charging my laptop. I would shake the adapter box a couple of times, thinking it might be a loose wire or something, and it would work again just fine. Then after having for another week without any problems I could not get it to work at all. I tried everything I could to get it to work and nothing seemed to help. After a more through inspection of the cable I found a hold in the outer insulating rubber covering and could see all the way to the wires underneath. The device has not been put through any unusal handling on my part and should have been more throughly inspected at the QA product line. This was a complete waste of money and I would NEVER recommend this product to anyone. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go through HP or whoever the manufacturer of your laptop is for ANY kind of cable or powering device!!!!

After reading the positive reviews above I placed an order for this replacement battery for my HP notebook computer. The product was packed very well and shipped promptly. It looked good out of the box; no physical damage. Unfortunately, the battery would not charge in my HP notebook, so I contacted Amazon and they promptly provided means for returning the battery for a credit to my account.

Later in the same day I received a phone call directly from Imac, the battery supplier to Amazon, by an employee named John. He was genuinely concerned that I had received a defective battery and explained that Imac products have an extremely low defect rate. He wanted to make things right and offered to ship a replacement free of charge. I agreed and he shipped the battery.

It arrived the NEXT BUSINESS DAY. He had shipped it overnight. This battery worked perfectly, and I am very happy with the purchase.

This battery works great! When my original HP extended life battery started showing only 67% charged as a maximum (after three or four years - a normal event, as I understand) I started looking for a replacement. The $51.95 price here on Amazon compared to the $149.99 price on HP Direct. It was a no-brainer - works just great - fits perfectly - looks exactly the same - and I'm back to 5 and 6 hours of battery life for 1/3 the price. I'd have no problem recommending this product. This battery works great for my HP DV2000 laptop. After a year's use, it still keeps my laptop up and running for at least 4 hours. It easily doubles the battery life of the oem equipment on my laptop. It does take longer to charge but that should be expected with a larger battery. Potential purchasers should be aware that this battery sticks out from the bottom of the laptop about an inch. It props the back of the laptop up a bit but it's easy to get used to. It also weighs more than the oem battery. These seem to be small prices to pay for greatly increased battery life.

I am very upset with this battery because it was described as the correct one for my HP DV2000 Laptop, in fact it works but the only HUGE thing is that it is not the exact replacement. It has a big extra part that makes looks your laptop ugly, half of the battery sticks out of place so now my laptop is like an in a 35 degree angle when I put it on my desk or somewhere else. It looks really bad but since I had opened I knew I could not return so I had to deal with it. Very upset with this product.

This battery was poorly engineered and gets lodged in the notebook...requiring prying to remove. As a result my notebook case was slightly damaged as was the battery case. I wonder if they'll return my money? Moreover, it just plain doesn't hold a charge. What a big waste of time!

"Not as pictured- be wary of HP adapters" 2010-02-17

HP appears to have a problem with power adapters. I don't know what models, only that mine in particular is a DV2000 bought at now defunct Circuit City. I've gone through several adapters, this brand being my fourth. The original adapter that came with the laptop lasted about a year. The first replacement only made it about three months before I had to start bending it to make a connection. The second replacement worked great for about eight months before getting a short and catching fire in my friend's living room.

I ordered this adapter because it had good reviews and I really didn't want to replace a laptop that was only two years old. As of the time of this writing, the product is sold by third parties but fulfilled by Amazon so I don't where blame lies. The adapter I received did not work so I immediately ordered a second one and had it shipped overnight. Much to my amazement, the second one worked fine but it is not the same product as the first one I received.

Neither of the adapters that I received have the same label as in the picture. The product is not UL listed. The second label as a bit more information than the first, the first having little more than "made in China" and that the device conforms to standards.

After looking at several other brands of replacement adapters I became fed up. Almost all have some horrible reviews that mention melting or otherwise catching fire. After having one catch fire on me, I am more than a bit skiddish about the issue. The safety of me and my family is worth than the price of a new laptop so I have ordered a new one, this time from Dell. It will be a long time before I trust HP with another laptop.

If there is one thing that Amazon is for besides books and big screens, it's stuff like this! My buddy told me his power adaptor for his HP notebook was busted. I told him to get on Amazon and find one, because if he went to Best Buy, he'd drop a Benjamin on it. He didn't believe me. Fast forward three days. He has to go on a road trip the next evening and calls me from Best Buy where it was over $100. He was in a panic. So I pulled out my iPhone with the Amazon app and found this for him. With Amazon Prime and overnight fulfillment by Amazon, it was less than $20. He went on his road trip and everything worked out great. Best part is that he actually paid me back the following week.

This is my second replacement battery. Battery life is Ok, not great. I get about 3 hours out of the battery in normal use: internet, spreadsheets, emails, etc.

It has more power and keeps the laptop going for a couple of hours...The larger than original drops into the battery slot with ease and with its double the size of the original battery really props up the laptap into a nice typing position and even helps keep the laptop nice and cool.
