I ordered this product back in may to replace the original, which like everyone elses' failed at the connection point. This one fits the laptop perfectly. If you use the included velcro strap to looped the cord near that weak point, it keeps the stress off of it. The original had the weak point, so I assume its in the design. This one doesn't overheat, and I've yet to have an issue with it.

Well, it started out great. I loved getting a solid 3 or 4 hours out of the battery, and the way the battery extended out of the laptop actually provided better air circulation under the laptop. However, after only 9 months the battery is failing. I ran the HP Battery Check because it seemed to be holding a charge for a shorter and shorter time. The check said there is a failure and to replace the battery. I expected more than 9 months for $101 dollar battery.

Then it dropped to less than 1 hour. In August it stopped charging to full capacity, only to 36%, although it still says "plugged in, charging". It is September and I need a new battery...after less than 9 full months of use. Given the cost I expected better quality.

I purchased this 12-cell HP battery to replace the worn-out 6-cell that came with my (now) nearly 3-year-old HP dv2000. I've yet to run down the battery completely to check for battery life, but did have it unplugged for a couple of hours and found it to still be above 50%. You're probably not going to get the battery life that the product claims, but it will last far longer than the 6-cell that you may be accustomed to. I would highly recommend this battery if you are in need of a replacement for the laptop models this is compatible with.



You will pay a bit more by going with the actual HP replacement battery as opposed to one of the cheaper, lesser known brands, but I have found it to still be a wise investment, at least in my experience. I had purchased a similar battery from a different manufacturer for around $40 (also reviewed if you check my history) and had that one arrive DOA straight from the box. After that I decided to bite the bullet, spend the extra cash, and get an HP replacement. I am glad I did.



Others reviewers have probably touched on this, but the size of the battery should be mentioned. Given that it is a 12-cell battery, as opposed to the 6-cell that came standard with the computer, it will protrude from the bottom of the laptop once attached, making the rear sit higher than the front. This wasn't an issue for me, in fact I actually prefer it as it seems to keep my laptop better vented and running cooler. Still I have seen some reviewers upset at this. It is the trade-off for extra battery life. If the size is an issue then you would be better served going with the smaller 6-cell model.

OK, it's big and its heavy. It sticks out the bottom of the computer, but make no mistake, this thing runs for hours and after the puny performance of the standard battery its a great to be able to work around the house without trailing wires.

While I have only had this battery for a short time it seems well made and fits my DV6000 perfectly. The only difference from the original battery is that it raises the laptop about an inch in the rear. This is because this battery has 12 cell and needs the extra space for them. Actually it helps typing on some surfaces and the battery has rubber feet on it and raises the back enough for a more ergonomic typing position.

This battery is the exact same as the HP's for about $80 cheaper. The two batteries have the exact same qualities except for the "New Trent" Logo on the bottom of the battery (the side you don't see). Seems a little expensive to get an HP logo. The product came packaged great, having foam and anti-static wrap around the battery. Will definitely buy from New Trent again.



Note: I had to buy a new battery because of my old battery not holding its charge. It turns out if you ONLY plug your laptop in if you need to charge! If you don't do this, your battery will lose its life!

I bought the battery which was working perfectly until all of a sudden it stopped working one month later, i was going to return it to amazon but the company actually called me and a agent offered a replacement, of course i wanted a replacement!! they treated me very nicely and sent the replacement ASAP, now my new battery work prefectly again, i must have gotten that one battery that turns out defective out of a bunch. Overall if i ever need a battery again i will probably get it from Newtrent again.
